PVC Solvents

A PVC solvent is an adhesive of a premium quality that is used for the fitting of PVC and UPVC pipes. The benefit of using this mixture is that it strengthens the pipes' bonding, sets fast, and acts as a suitable adhesive. It can be used to glue pipes, which are either PVC or UPVC, and have a diameter of 100mm. It is also used as an adhesive to fix drinking water pipes, sanitary pipes, wastewater pipes, irrigation pipes, etc. The crucial thing that you need to be aware of is, this cement is not glued. It is composed of wax, stabilizers, and fillings, which are amalgamated to form mixtures.
As the mixture is applied, it melts the pipe's upper layer and the fitting, reducing the molecular structure, making it soft. When a taper is used later, then it fits in fast. As the fusion happens in the molecular structure, even when the mixture is vaporized, it remains strong. The stabilizers that it had help in retaining the properties of the solvent. The primary function of these stabilizers is to prevent oxidation and heat that may erode the mixture.
It is preferred for joining pipes and fittings because it joins those surfaces very fast and can be easily relied on as a fixing method. This cement uniformly bonds the pipes creating a fused thermoplastic. These joints are also resistant to heat, temperature, pressure, chemicals for which it is chosen greatly.
The PVC solvent cement composition remains the same for all types: solution of mixtures, fillers with wax, and stabilizers. The differential fact is its consistency, which makes it separate from one another. The consistency varies from one mix to another by the presence of the amount of wax in it. The additional amount of resin it has, tremendous is the consistency. With greater consistency, it can fx the joints and hold it for a long time.
Keeping consistency as the parameter, it can be classified into three categories:
For all sorts of applications for industrial purposes, it is always recommended to use the heavy-bodied one. It is so because the heavy-bodied ones have a more consistent resin, which helps the fitting to be held tight for a long time. Besides this, a primer should also be used. The primer is a kind of softener that is applied first to loosen the pipe's molecular structure. Then the heavy-bodied should be used for enhancing the softening process.
The mixtures of this category do not contain fillers in them. They are designed specifically for this industrial system to deal with these highly corrosive applications. The absence of fillers is to ensure that no chemical can degrade the system.
In most cases, the process is hassle-free and does not require any critical techniques. But in some cases, there is a requirement of proper solvent welding depending upon the fluid and pressure that the pipe has to tackle. The process to apply the mixture for lines are as follows:
The sustainability of this cement is the primary cause for which it opts as a joiner. It gives a good adhesion, fast setting and is also waterproof. It is also ideal for coupling any pipe. It can fix pipes, which endures any pressure. Thus it is one the easiest ways to use to fix your piping. You can stay assured that your pipes will remain appropriately joined by the use of this cement.
