Each floor is said to have been occupied by three to four families. Witnesses for the event said that they only heard a loud sound and two minutes of screams of people from inside the collapsed building. The building crashed vertically; had it crashed diagonally, there could have been more casualties. The building was an RCC structure and currently search operations using search cameras are on to find survivors.
This incident once again brings to light, the issues of negligence by the government authorities to maintain or bring down structures which have surpassed its age.
