The Jewel complex is currently under construction and is expected to open in early 2019. Located in front of Changi Airport’s Terminal 1, Jewel is touted to bring the airport in the premier league. Designed by the world famous architect Moshe Safdie, Jewel’s dome-shaped facade made of glass and steel, makes it an iconic piece of work in the landscape of the airport. At approximately 134,000 square metres in size, it promises to offer a range of facilities including airport services, indoor gardens and leisure attractions, retail and dining offerings and a hotel.

The Canopy Park, with 14,000 square metres in area, will feature play attractions, gardens, walking trails alongside dining outlets. The Park has three kinds of play attractions: Sky Nets, Canopy Mazes and Discovery Slides. It has been designed by world-renowned consultants from Britain, France, Germany, Singapore and The Netherlands. The Sky Nets combines concepts of a bouncing and walking net together. The Canopy Mazes is made up of two different maze concepts; one offers the visitors with a bird’s eye view of the maze while the second maze has mirror design elements. The Discovery Slides has 4-slides-in-1 play scape where there are sides for adults and kids, both. In addition to the play attractions, the open areas will encourage young children to come close to greenery in the park. The 50m long Canopy Bridge will allow visitors to enjoy the 40m high Rain Vortex. It is also suspended 23m above ground with glass panel flooring in the centre portion of the bridge for people to look down at level one.

Keeping up with Singapore’s reputation as a City in a Garden, Jewel will house one of the largest indoor collections of plants in Singapore. Its 22,000 square metres of space dedicated to landscaping throughout the space boasts of over 1,400 trees and palms.

“To capture tourism mind share amongst international travellers, and elevate the Changi Experience, Jewel’s unique offerings including Canopy Park, Forest Valley and the Rain Vortex, will be a place where ‘Singapore meets the World, and the World meets Singapore’, right at the doorstep of Singapore Changi Airport, one of the most acclaimed icons in the world,” said Ms Hung Jean, Chief Executive Officer of Jewel Changi Airport Department.
