SIERRA ODC’s eFacility at Annamalai Industrial Estate at Kalapatti has successfully achieved a score of 103 out of 110 (Platinum rating) from Green Business Certification Inc, which is the prime body for certifying LEED projects across the world. The 18,732 sq.ft building, built on an area of 24,000 sq.ft, has used 20% of the civil materials as recycled content, recycled or reused over 80% of the construction waste and used almost 78.3% of materials available locally. This area is air conditioned and accommodates around 150 people. The facility converts its waste water from the kitchen using an organic waste converter, 60 KW of solar panels to generate solar energy, with some of the solar panels fixed on the facade of the building.

JG Giridhar, CEO and Managing Director of SIERRA ODC, discussed how it took the building nearly two years to get completed after which they applied for certification.
An employee spends about 10 hours at work and it is important that the quality of the air in the building is good. Such details have been addressed in the building, he said.
