K Raheja Corp’s J.W. Marriot – Sahar, gets LEED Gold certification

K Raheja Corp owned Marriot Whitefield Bengaluru received LEED Gold Certification. The group is one of India’s leading destination developer​​ with business diversified from real​ estate​​ to retail​, to hospitality​,​ to retail development. Another project by the group, J.W. Marriott – Sahar, in Mumbai also is LEED Gold Certified now. The project has achieved a rating of 66 points in the Final Certification review of the Indian Green Building Council’s (IGBC) LEED 2011 for India.

Guests residing at the hotel become part of the larger sustainable cause which has multi-fold benefits. Each of them, as aware citizens, contribute towards curbing​ global warming as this hotel draws less power from the coal-based power plant and less water from the BMC administered lakes. K Raheja Corp has been the torch bearer of the green cause for the real estate industry, dating it back to the year 2007 when it signed an MOU with the CII-Green Building Council to construct Green Buildings. All the buildings built by K Raheja Corp post-2007 are LEED certified. In the hospitality space, Marriot Whitefield Bengaluru is another project that has an LEED-NC Gold certification. Amongst its other key offerings, Mindspace in Hyderabad and Airoli are the 6th & 7th building projects respectively to receive the LEED certification from Indian Green building Council (IGBC). Mindspace Building no​s.​ 9 & 10 at Airoli are in line to achieve the LEED certification. At present, the Company is in the process of developing 32.68 million sq. ft of green space across India.
