uPVC or unplasticized polyvinyl chloride is the perfect material for Lucknow’s humid subtropical climate type. Lucknow experiences very hot summers, a fairly wet rainy season and cool dry winters which of late have had very low temperatures. This type of climate is not ideal for the normal materials, such as wood, that are used to construct doors.
Wood tends to expand or contract when exposed to heat and cold. It also tends to swell up when exposed to humidity. Prolonged exposure to temperature and humidity changes warp wood. This means that doors made of wood eventually warp and are unable to close and lock properly.
uPVC does not have this problem. It is weather-resistant, which means that when exposed to extremes of temperatures it does not warp, even after prolonged exposure. It’s not hard to see that doors made of uPVC are ideal for Lucknow weather. Not only can they withstand the elements for long periods, but are also much sturdier and stronger than wood, making them almost completely burglar-proof.
In addition, uPVC is a material that is heavily insulated from noise. This means that once the doors are shut, not much of the sounds of traffic, hawkers and other city noises can get in.
uPVC doors in Lucknow would go a long way in making buildings safe and private.
